Why Choose University of Auckland?

The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading university and is the only one ranked among the world’s top 200 universities by the Times Higher Education World Rankings of Universities.  It is also the highest ranked New Zealand university in the QS World University Rankings and the Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities.

The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s best and largest. It has a strong focus on quality with selective entry to all programmes.

Auckland ranks well in each of the QS World University Ranking of broad subject areas: Arts and Humanities (55), Life Sciences & Medicine (50), Natural Science (73), Social Sciences & Management (41) and Engineering and Technology (62). QS also offers rankings by 29 individual subjects. In 2012 Auckland ranks well in QS’s ranking of individual subjects, particularly in Psychology (32), Law (34), and Education (37).

The University of Auckland’s main City Campus is located in the heart of Auckland, which is ranked third out of 221 world cities for quality of living in the 2011 Mercer Quality of Living Survey. Auckland’s harbour setting, magnificent beaches and verdant bush make it a great place to study and work, while the University’s close proximity to New Zealand’s major business city enables staff and students to rub shoulders with leading practitioners in their field.

Two offers of place from the start

All students who enrol in The University of Auckland Certificate of Foundation Studies will receive two offers of place at the time of application: a letter of offer for the Foundation Studies course and a conditional letter of offer for The University of Auckland. A confirmed offer of place will be issued by The University of Auckland when students have successfully completed the Certificate in Foundation Studies.
